These cylinders are combined with robust multi-point locking, meaning the door secures at multiple positions rather than relying on a single locking point. This helps improve strength, stability and resistance across the full height of the door.
Security is not only about the lock. The glazing within the door also plays an important role in the complete security system. Dortech Doors use triple glazing, with a PVB interlayer introduced to the inner pane of glass.
PVB stands for polyvinyl butyral. It is a transparent plastic interlayer used within laminated glass. If the glass is impacted, the PVB layer helps retain broken fragments, creating a containment effect and making the glazed area more difficult to simply break through. This provides an additional layer of reassurance while allowing the door to retain a clean, contemporary appearance.
